ABSTRACT
India met a real GDP growth of 8.2 % (Press Information Bureau, 2025) , where such growth rate is higher than previous year making India the 4th largest economy as of June 2025. Indian women lifted the first ever World cup trophy shaping the dreams of fellow women in the society to dream big in sports.
Women are enhancing their ability in perform better in all fields, but still physical inability to meet the strength of a Man and the patriarchal society which supress the women – were the mere advantage of the groups which intend to commit an heinous offense against women.
Enactments like Indian Penal Code (IPC), Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Protection of Children from Sexual offences Act , (POSCO Act) penalise offences against women.
Supreme Court too in the year 2022 rendered landmark Judgements on empowering women like prohibiting Two finger test, Marital rape constituted in the form of rape, lifting up the ban on Hijab, deciding abortion rights, Mother deciding the surname of the Child, broadening the definition of dowry.
New Criminal Law Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, too compiled the offences against women and child in its Chapter No V. But still there is no safety for Women in India. In this Modern India People do compare women safety in India and Arab countries, pointing the offenses committed against women.
Judgements securing the rights of women on one side, and heinous offenses of cases like Kokalta rape and murder, etc are quite common in the other side. Justice is not with quotes “Justice for Nirbhaya” , “Justice for Asifa”, “Justice for Kolkata doctor”. Is BNS , and other specific laws do protect women and penalize offenses against women. Are these laws sufficient?
Legislature and Judiciary have taken necessary steps to prevent offences against women and empower women rights. But still implementation of new essential laws is crucial to solve the probe. It will not be an immediate solution but will be benefited after 20 years.
Yes, it’s related to “ To implement a new law imposing parental liability law on all” and amend the existing new criminal laws in compliance with this new law.
