ABSTRACT

This legal research aims to analyse the legal and policy frameworks contributing to the high incidence of child malnutrition in Bihar, India. The study investigates the prevalence of child malnutrition, its causes and contributing factors, and the effectiveness of the current legal and policy frameworks. The research provides a critical evaluation of the existing frameworks, including the access to food and nutritional interventions, quality and adequacy of health and nutrition services, and social protection and welfare measures. The study also identifies the challenges to implementation and enforcement of the current frameworks and recommends policy improvements. The research findings indicate that despite the existence of national and international legal and policy frameworks, the situation of child malnutrition in Bihar remains critical due to several political and economic factors. The study highlights the need for stronger political will and coordinated efforts by the government, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to address the issue of child malnutrition in Bihar effectively. The research provides important implications for policy and practice, highlighting the need for better monitoring and evaluation of the current frameworks and the development of new strategies to address the underlying causes of child malnutrition. The study concludes that future research should focus on exploring the effectiveness of new policy interventions and their impact on child malnutrition in Bihar.
