ABSTRACT

This article tries to sum up the idea behind the anti-defection law in India and its association with parliamentary dissent. It mentions the origin of anti-defection law in India. It will discuss the importance of the label of political parties in the election of its representatives. This article also includes the constitutional amendments and also the loopholes that are still present in the law. This article tries to provide an explicit idea about the anti-defection law in India. The researcher offers a few recommendations in the conclusion section to help strike a compromise between the needs of the voters and the requirement to keep political leaders in office.
