ABSTRACT
The objective of this study is to understand the basics of devolution of joint liability along with comprehending the meanings of words like devolution, liability, joint promise, and joint lives. Additionally, the objective of the study is finding out the efficacy of the security offered by the devolution of joint liabilities to the promisee as per the section 42 of the Indian contract act, 1872. Finally, this study also aims at developing a better understanding with the help of cases that have the mentioned law as their principle.
