ABSTRACT
This article provides the reader with a detailed picture of the contract law, its origin, and the various sources from where the law was originated. As a matter of fact that the contract law is used in everyday life work. From small business transactions to multi-million-dollar business deals, the contract law is used. At the beginning of the article, the role of religions forming the law has been discussed followed up by the contract laws in Manusmriti, Kautilya’s Arthashastra, and the Islamic Laws. The Indian Contract Law can be said as a combination of various ancient law books. After reading this article, the reader will get a brief knowledge about the background of Indian Contract Law.
